Tips for Piecing Precise Points from Goer

Welcome to my stop on the Back to School Blog Hop for 2022! Now that my kids have been back in school for a few weeks, I've gotten back into the groove of getting into my studio more regularly. I've done some sewing, some tidying, some planning, and some writing. :-)

My newest class is Building an Improv Toolbox. (P.S. You can take it with me on November 5!) In improv I often don't concern myself with things lining up precisely, but even then, sometimes I do want it to happen. These tips are for those times ...

Bollywood Beats from Sew Preeti Quilts

Island Batik's September Challenge and Blog Hop focuses on the Studio 180 Design tool we received in our second Ambassador box. I received the Tucker Trimmer Tool.

The Tucker Trimmer is used to trim down units that are made with triangles: half square triangle squares, quarter square triangle squares (hourglass units), and combinations of half square and quarter square triangle squares (combination units).

I also received the Honeycomb fabric collection, designed by Kathy Engle for Jackie Kunkle of Canton Village Quiltworks, shipping to shops in September.

Schmetz Microtex Needles 70/10 and Aurifil 40wt Thread were used for piecing ...

Get On Board with Sewing Blog Hop ~ Day 5 from Melva Loves Scraps

Welcome to the Get On Board with Sewing blog hop!  This hop is celebrating National Sewing Month... while it would seem to be a US thing, being "National", Brenda and I have chosen to include bloggers from around the world... making it an INTERNational event.

One would think that as one of the organizers for the National Sewing Month Blog Hop, I would have had a project in mind months ago!  But to no avail... I did not.  I knew that I had some fabric that I wanted to feature, but no specific project was in mind.

As the time ...

Pattern, Sale & BlogHop too! from Sew Preeti Quilts

I have so many things to share that I could just explode.
Breathe, breathe, just breathe, Paul said.

1. Topsy Turvy is now available as a stand alone pattern in my Etsy Store.

Topsy Turvy in Honeycomb Fabrics

I first made Topsy Turvy using the scraps left over from the Island Batik "Make it Modern" Blog Hop and Challenge.  Many refinements later, making it suitable for 2.5" precut strips, writing and rewriting and then correcting the pattern, Topsy Turvy is now available as a standalone pattern.

Here are a few more pictures.

Basting and Ironing

Topsy Turvy is a ...

Autumn Apples Tablescape from From My Carolina Home

Are you ready to Welcome Fall? Get a fresh cup of coffee, or tea, or other wake-up you have in the mornings, and settle in for a long post with a fun blog hop. We are in September now, and it is time to turn our thoughts to enjoying cooler days in the northern hemisphere, getting out the light sweaters and looking forward to crisp evenings with good food on the table. I like to make the transition from late summer into fall with an apple filled table, with apple based food.

One of my challenges to myself is to ...

Get On Board with Sewing Blog Hop on Off the Wall Friday from Creations - Quilts, Art, Whatever by Nina-Marie Sayre

Earlier this summer, Melva was kind enough to invite me to participate in the
Get on Board with
Sewing
Blog Hop.  It is in celebration of September which is National Sewing Month.  I thought it was a great idea because #1 I think sewing is tremendous and it's always been a big part of my life and #2  I could set it as a goal to finally finish up Tessa's Mosiac which I've been puttering through since May.  I've puttered through projects before but with this one I've taken it to a new level. Not ...

UFO Blog Hop ~ My turn! from Quilt Doodle Doodles...

Hi! Thank you for stopping by! I have soo many UFO's that it's hard to focus on any one of them! I am overwhelmed at times that I can't seem to find the time to get to them because I am sidetracked by shining objects.... new fabric.... new ideas... new puppy is putting a huge damper on working on anything at this time. She's fearless and a bit of a counter cruiser, total polar opposite from Belvedere. As I try to cut fabric she's jumping up and grabbing scraps. As I sew, she's rummaging ...

UFO Blog Hop - Flowery OBW from Quilted Delights

I was excited to join the UFO blog hop this month hosted by Joan of Moose Stash Quilting. It inspired me to finish up this One Block Wonder that has been in progress since 2019.  It is made from seven different panels, six cut up and one left as is for the center.

I have a long list of UFOs... not sure I'm ready to announce the actual number here yet. Lol, let's just say I suffer from Quilters ADD. I'm easily distracted by new ideas and projects.

I will say as of now I have 7 ...

New York Beauty Challenge - Syzygy from Sew Preeti Quilts

The Island Batik challenge (and blog hop) for June 2022 is New York Beauty.

I received the collection Winter Sky. Designed by Kathy Engle, it should be available in stores now.

I turned to EQ8 and started designing playing.  I started with a basic/traditional layout.

Traditional New York Beauty?

It looks like something I have seen before. Although it was pretty, it could use a little more imagination. Back to EQ8. After several iterations, here is the final design.

Modern Interpretation of NYB

Done playing, it was time to get serious. Schmetz Microtex Needles 70/10 and Aurifil 40wt ...

Here Comes the Sun Blog Hop from Quilted Delights

Welcome to the last day of the Here Comes the Sun Blog Hop hosted by Carol of Just Let Me Quilt.
I've sure enjoyed seeing everyone's creations.  If you missed any, you can find the whole blog hop list at the bottom of the post.

The challenge for this blog hop was Summer and Sunshine.

We were challenged to sew something that has a summer theme like: sunglasses, beach items, sunny skies, and/or yellow colors. It could be a quilt, a bag, a toy, or whatever we wanted it to be.

I went with yellow and lots ...
